Bangladesh Cricket is also willing to restore its cricketing relations with India after the latter pulled out of the ICC Men T20 World Cup 2026 after they had refused to change the location of their matches.
The book players and the board officials have emphasized the significance of a good bilateral relationship between the two nations. The refusal to participate in such a big tournament also resulted in in-house deliberations in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) concerning the need to enhance their relationship with their neighbours in South Asia.
The 2026 absenteeism in the world cup is being perceived as some unfortunate event and the attention is now shifted to have a new way ahead.

Aminul Haque, a newly elected State Minister of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh addressed the problem. He added that one of his primary concerns is bettering the relationship with the neighbouring states.
“After attending the oath-taking ceremony today, I met with the Deputy High Commissioner of India at the Parliament building. I discussed this matter (T20 World Cup issue) with him. He was very friendly, and I also spoke to him in a friendly manner. I told him that we want to resolve this issue quickly through discussions because we want to maintain friendly relations with all our neighboring countries,” Haque was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

He also claimed that he is not entirely convinced by the Board’s decision not to send the team to the World Cup 2026, claiming that it could have been averted if the circumstances had been different.
“You know that because of diplomatic complications, we could not play in the World Cup. If those issues had been discussed and settled earlier, our team might have participated,” he concluded.

Bangladesh was overtaken by Scotland in the multi-national competition which was shared by India and Sri Lanka. Although the Scottish team did not reach the Super 8, it had a good tournament. They defeated one of their four group-stage games, with Italy, and battled England.
