Brian Lara’s humorous request to Yashavi Jaiswal has gone popular on social media. Jaiswal hit 175 off 258 balls in India’s first innings of the second Test against the West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Brian Lara, who was present on Day 2 of the ongoing battle, shared a lighthearted moment with Jaiswal on the field following the day’s play. The former West Indian southpaw praised the opening batter and joked that he should not batter the West Indian bowlers the next time.

“Don’t beat our bowlers that bad,” Lara told Jaiswal while congratulating him on his knock.
The funny statement was received with laughter and a warm embrace between the two before Brian Lara went away to another part of the ground. Jaiswal then discussed the mindset he had when batting against the Windies.

Yashasvi Jaiswal stated on how he always prioritizes the team over his own personal goals. He also highlighted his desire to convert starts into big scores and capitalise on the opportunity.
“I always put the team first, how I can play for my team, and what is important for my team at that moment in time. So, I always think that, and that gives me the answer to how I can play, what shots I can play, how the wicket is, and if I’m there, I make sure that I take it as long as I can. That is all my mindset: that if I have a start, I make sure that I make it big, just like that,” remarked Jaiswal.

At the end of Day 3, the West Indies were 97 runs behind India, with John Campbell (87 off 145)* and Shai Hope (66 off 103)* still unbeaten in their second innings. India, having declared at 518 for 5, had earlier bowled out the visitors for 248 and enforced the follow-on.
On Day 4, Campbell converted his overnight 87 into a maiden Test century, scoring 115 (199) before falling to Ravindra Jadeja. His knock was historic — he became the first West Indian opener to score a Test century in India in 23 years.
