The wife of Cheteshwar Pujara, Puja Pabari, posted an emotional Instagram message after the veteran batter informed of his retirement as an international cricketer on August 24, 2025. She said she was touched by his motivating story and how proud she has been to be involved in his life. The retirement of Pujara as announced on his official social media handles emerged as an unexpected yet an end of an era.
Cheteshwar Pujara, a well-known online personality and author, expressed her profound joy that his spouse played the game fairly and without sacrificing effort. She is also happy that the best cricket player consistently gave it his all while playing in a style that reflected his personality as a person and as an athlete.
‘Be in the present as the present is the present of the supreme presence’ – a guiding principle of the Bhagavad Gita which is something you have been living by for quite sometime now, and hope it continues to guide you in this next phase! As you bid goodbye to your first love, passion and the sport you love so much, I am glad you always gave it your all and played the game in your own calm and dignified way!,” the caption of the post read.

She also acknowledged that after marrying the cricket player in 2013, she fell in love with the game and that they should both be able to relive the time they had lost together because of their respective careers.
“From knowing nothing about cricket to loving you and the sport through your eyes – your journey has been a true education in life’s lessons for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have gone through the highs and lows of your career together! I will miss cheering you on the field, following the unshakeable routines, and at times maybe also the anxiousness before a match/series. For all the missed celebrations and adjustments made in order to prioritise cricket, lets make up for it now,” she captioned further.

Pujara represented India in 103 Test matches overall. He averaged 43.60 and scored 7195 runs in 176 innings. During his red-ball career, the defensively sound player amassed 19 hundreds and 35 fifties. Following his final international game in June 2023, Pujara was never given any consideration by the management.
