Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad celebrates after scoring a century (100 runs) during the 2025 IPL match

Heinrich Klaasen, a batsman for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), won a colossal century against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, May 25. Klaasen helped SRH to a huge total by scoring the third-fastest IPL century off of 37 balls.

SRH won the toss and decided to bat first. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got a terrific start for the Sunrisers with an opening stand. Sharma then added 92 in less than seven overs with the skipper, who was out for 32.

Heinrich Klaasen arrived at No. 3 and, particularly against Varun Chakaravarthy, made his intentions evident with his exceptional ball-striking. With just 17 balls, the South African reached his fifty and formed an 83-run partnership with Head (76).

Heinrich Klaasen continued to gain ground and needed just 37 balls to complete his century. He ultimately finished undefeated at 105 off 39 as SRH amassed an enormous 278.

Fans praised Klaasen’s knock and posted their views on X, with one writing:

Call him the guy who blasted a 37-ball century if you want, fine. But to me, Heinrich Klaasen is a once-in-a-generation freak of nature. And if that doesn't register with you, your cricket IQ is flatlined. pic.twitter.com/8fILKPVL00

Check out the other reactions:

“Its not easy to overshadow Travis Head on his day. Heinrich Klaasen made us forget even that,” a user tweeted.

“No doubt about it — Klaasen isn’t human, he’s a run machine! What a beastly knock that was!” a user posted.

“That is one of the best 100s in IPL from Heinrich Klaasen. Simply beautiful hitting,” another wrote.

Heinrich Klaasen said at the mid-innings break that he was happy to help the squad. He expressed gratitude to the franchise for letting them play their natural game and said:

“Very pleased, it’s been a long season of disappointment. Luckily, I stuck to my processes and found my form now. The franchise spent a lot of time and money to play this brand of cricket, and it was up to us to step up to the mantle. (On the pitch) I tried to hit every ball for six, there was a spell from Narine where it was quite difficult, but I tried to improvise. The hard lengths are a bit tougher to play.

“(On batting at number 3) I’m a situation player, that’s the idea in the dugout. If we lose a wicket after the powerplay or just at the end of the powerplay, then I just go in. If we lose a wicket earlier, then it doesn’t quite work out. For me, it’s just a number, it all depends on the team situation.”

Heinrich Klaasen finished the season as the best batsman for SRH, with 487 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 172.69 and an average of 44.27.
