The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad may be given the hosting duties for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Final, according to the reportedly updated schedule. The final has been postponed by a few days due to the campaign’s midway interruption; as of right now, May 30 is the designated date.
According to the original schedule, the historic Eden Gardens was supposed to host the final game on May 25. If the final is postponed to May 30, it might prove a disastrous choice if it rains as meteorologists are predicting.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering the Narendra Modi Stadium as a possible substitute, according to a PTI report.
“Kolkata might lose #IPL final to Ahmedabad. The reason being inclement weather on May 30 as per Accu Weather. Cloudy weather and rainfall predicted on that day. Also Ahmedabad’s capacity is a good 30,000 more. It’s being discussed,” the report reads.
IPL 2024 finalists Hyderabad and Kolkata were designated as the playoff hosts in the original schedule. After the restart, it is unclear if the BCCI would stick to the original plan or move to different locations.
In the past, the defending team plays their championship at home, which has been the case since the IPL 2012 season. Still, in recent days, a similar result occurred, and in 2021, CSK won. The Chepauk could not host the IPL 2022 playoffs because the tournament has not been played in the traditional home-away format because of constraints with COVID-19, with the play-off games being scheduled in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad venue might be hosting its third IPL final in just three seasons, hosting the IPL 2022 and IPL 2023 championship matches already.
After all the matches were played at the league stage in Mumbai, the stadium was selected for the IPL 2022 Final. Having been qualified because Gujarat Titans won the 2022 IPL Final against the Rajasthan Royals, the stadium was given a chance to host the next final.
Eden Gardens hosted finals of the IPL 2013 and IPL 2015 meanwhile.
