Rohit SHarma in IPL 2026
Rohit Sharma brought up his fifty off just 23 balls

On Saturday, April 4, the eighth of the currently running IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) will play against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The afternoon match shall commence at 3: 30 pm IST.

Contents
1. Lungi Ngidi (DC) vs Suryakumar Yadav (MI)2. Tristan Stubbs (DC) vs Jasprit Bumrah (MI)1. Axar Patel (DC) vs Rohit Sharma (MI)

Both teams have opened their respective campaigns by victory. Delhi defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets, as it pursued a 142-run total in 17.1 overs. Mumbai, however, won a 6 wicket match in a high scoring affair against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) surpassing a 221 run target within 19.1 overs.

Delhi now stand fourth in the table having two points and net run rate of 1.397. Mumbai are also included in the list with two points but they are ranked at the fifth position due to their net run rate of 0.687. DC and MI have had 37 IPL matches. Mumbai are the leaders in head to head 21-16.

In this case, we look at three interesting player battles to look forward to in the upcoming contest:

1. Lungi Ngidi (DC) vs Suryakumar Yadav (MI)

Suryakumar Yadav swivels into a pull, Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians

Suryakumar Yadav could only get 16 runs on eight balls during the first game between MI and KKR. The swashbuckling batter will strive to score a big score at the beginning of the season.

He might have a difficult battle, however, with the slower ones of Lungi Ngidi. Suryakumar has sometimes been weak at responding to the change of pace deliveries. The SA pacer has perfected his cutters over the recent past and employed it to good effect when he had three wickets against LSG.

It is also worth mentioning that Suryakumar has hit 60 runs on 34 balls with a strike rate of 176.46 when bowled by Ngidi in T20Is. The seamer has been able to dismiss the 35 year old twice in five innings.

2. Tristan Stubbs (DC) vs Jasprit Bumrah (MI)

The work of Tristan Stubbs in the second part of the innings would be vital to Delhi. He was significant with his knock in the first match and was not defeated on 39 out of 32 balls.

His match with the MI speedster Jasprit Bumrah should be thrilling. The fast bowler has rejected the South African batsman after every four innings. Stubbs, has made eight scores out of 12 balls and also has low strike rate of 61.53 against the fast bowler.

1. Axar Patel (DC) vs Rohit Sharma (MI)

Delhi Capitals’ captain Axar Patel celebrates after taking the wicket

DC skipper Axar Patel came to bowl in the powerplay against LSG. It will not come as a surprise when he repeats the same in this instance since he has had an impressive history against MI opener Rohit Sharma.

The old guard has a poor strike rate of 91.3 off the left-arm spinner. He has been out on three occasions to the bowler and has made 63 runs on 69 balls.

Sharma appeared ravishingly beautiful during the first match of MI. He had a scathing 78-run off 38 balls. Axar also made a good first appearance. The shrewd spinner took the decisive wicket of Aiden Markram and only awarded 17 runs in three overs.
