On March 23, 2025 the newest Sunrisers Hyderabad recruit Ishan Kishan created historical records by scoring the first hundred of the IPL season. In Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Kishan achieved his first IPL century while batting against Rajasthan Royals after using 45 balls since joining the tournament in 2016.
In the 2025 IPL auction, Kishan was purchased by SRH for an incredible INR 11.25 crore, and his outstanding century more than justified the price tag. Eleven boundaries and six maximums were part of his undefeated 106 off 47, which came at a scorching strike rate of 225.53.
Immediately following the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma Kishan started an aggressive attack against the opposition rivals. Through a crucial batting alliance with Travis Head the Hyderabad team achieved 94 runs within the span of their first six overs. SRH reached 286 which became the second-highest score of the season with Klaasen hitting 34 off 14 balls and Head scoring 67 off 31 deliveries while Kumar Reddy delivered a 30-run assault from 15 balls.
In order to complete his first IPL century, Kishan sprinted double after pushing Sandeep Sharma’s delivery towards long-off in the 19th over. For Kishan, who had previously come close but had never reached the three-figure threshold in the IPL, this was a long-awaited milestone. In addition, he became the first Indian player to reach a century for the Hyderabad team. Following his innings, the southpaw stated that he wished to contribute to the squad and keep things easy.
“Feels good, it was coming for a while. Wanted to get this last season but happy to get that first hundred. The team has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence, hats off to the management,” Kishan told broadcasters after his breathtaking assault.
“When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout. The pitch was looking good and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point with the ball, keep it simple. Rajasthan bowlers are good but if we bowl in the right areas and to the plans, we should be good.”
