On Friday, March 13, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) met with an expert committee of the Karnataka government. The meeting’s goal was to determine how cricket will be brought back to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the next Indian Premier League (IPL).

Although the talks were productive, KSCA said that further information on the subject is anticipated on Monday, March 16, in the evening.

“During the meeting, KSCA made a detailed presentation on the infrastructural upgradations/arrangements and safety measures undertaken at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee that are to be implemented under Phase-I of the compliance framework,” a KSCA statement read.

“Representatives of RCB and their associated operational agencies also presented their preparedness and operational plans for the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming IPL matches,” it added.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has been out of operation since the unfortunate stampede that saw the RCB win celebration. The encouraging word that the fans have been seeking after the meeting on Friday is going to take a short while longer.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli (C), along with his former teammates AB de Villiers (centre R) and Chris Gayle (centre L), celebrates with the trophy after winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 final cricket match

Of RCB, the team under Rajat Patidar topped the point table after the round-robin phase of the tournament last year. In the initial qualifier as well as the final, they succeeded over Punjab Kings. The final match was played in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB won in a dramatic last match by six runs. Due to that win the Bengaluru-based team became champions of the first time in IPL.

A mighty RCB team will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the inaugural match of the next season of IPL. The BCCI has so far disclosed the initial 20 matches. The rest of the matches would be disclosed eventually. Other than SRH, RCB will have Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on April 12, Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on April 10 and Chennai Super Kings at home on April 5.
