On Sunday, April 20, at the Wankhede Stadium, the 38th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match saw the Mumbai Indians (MI) crush the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by nine wickets. With that, MI has now won three straight games to restart their campaign.

The first batting inning began with Rachin Ravindra departing early but new player Ayush Mhatre hit 32 runs from 15 balls which steadied his team’s scoring. Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube each scored 50 runs as they helped their team accumulate 176/5 runs during their 20-over innings.

The match started fast for MI through their batters but Ryan Rickelton left the field in the seventh over. Rohit Sharma together with Suryakumar Yadav produced an impressive display to reach the victory with 15.4 overs remaining. Rohit hit 76 runs without losing his wicket from 45 balls at the same time Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 68 from his 30-ball innings.

With the victory, the Mumbai Indians, who now have eight points from as many games, have surged to sixth position in the standings.

Rohit Sharma struck his first fifty of IPL 2025

The former MI captain scored an undefeated 76 off 45 balls at a strike rate of 168.69, including four boundaries and six maximums, in a game-winning knock against CSK.

Rohit Sharma now has nine 50+ fifties against the Super Kings following tonight’s knock. Along with David Warner, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan, it is the joint-most by a hitter.

2. MI now have the most wins against CSK in the IPL

The Chennai Super Kings suffered their latest defeat of the season when Mumbai Indians dismantled them by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. The victory against CSK has made MI win their 21st match against the five-time IPL champions.

Second on the record stands Punjab Kings at 15 wins while Rajasthan Royals maintain 14 victories. Between them the Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru hold the fourth spot with twelve wins alongside the fourth team

3. Rohit Sharma has the second-most sixes for a single team in the IPL

The 37-year-old’s innings against CSK that won the match featured six maximums. Rohit now has 240 maximums for one IPL club after these six knocks. This is the second-most by a batter for the Mumbai Indians, one of the IPL teams.

With 283, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli leads the field in the number of sixes a batter has struck for a single side.
