Ravichandran Ashwin took a decision to speak up on his decision to retire in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his wife, Prithi Narayanan, came forward to write an emotional note on the same. Return to Chennai Super Kings A much-anticipated move saw Rayudu returning to his former franchise, the Chennai Super Kings, who bought him at 9.75 crore in the mega auction in 2025, nine years after his last stint with the team.
The magical recovery, however, was not that successful. The 38 year-old took only seven wickets in nine matches ending with an average of 40.42, a strike rate of 26.5 and an economy of 9.12. SK, also had a season to forget as the team finished in last place, giving birth to an emotional farewell to the IPL stage to Ashwin as well.

Prithi Narayanan paid tribute to Ashwin, 38, in an Instagram story as he said goodbye to the IPL, writing:
“I love you! Can’t wait to see you do new things and scale new heights.”

The Indian legend, who finished his career with 765 wickets in 287 games across all forms, had already retired from international cricket in December 2024.
Ravichandran Ashwin retires from IPL after 221 matches

In a post on X, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his decision to leave the IPL. Additionally, he made hints about pursuing a career in franchise leagues abroad by writing:
“Special day and hence a special beginning.They say every ending will have a new start, my time as an IPL cricketer comes to a close today, but my time as an explorer of the game around various leagues begins today.”

The off-spinner took 187 wickets at an average of 30.22, with a strike rate of 25.1 and an economy of 7.20, in 221 IPL games. In addition, he amassed 833 runs, including one half-century.
