Bcci has released team for the Asia Cup 2025 squad as announced from september 9 to 28 in abu dhabi and dubai.
India has been placed in the Group B alongside Oman, UAE, Pakistan. The Team starts its tournament on September 10 against UAE at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Suryakumar Yadav will remain Indian T20I skipper in the Asia Cup with Shubman Gill as his deputy. Stalwart performers like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh have retained their place but the exclusion of Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Ruturaj Gaikwad has left many followers disillusioned causing a storm of reactions and memes on social media.

Former cricket player Aakash Chopra has been heaping praises on Shreyas Iyer over his exalted efforts in the shortest format and explained that the batter had done all in his capacity to secure a place in the upcoming Asia Cup team. Aakash Chopra elaborated on this in his YouTube video and said:
“Shreyas Iyer not being there is a big story. What more will Shreyas Iyer have to do? What more can you do than what you have already done? You had a 600-plus run IPL season, took the team to the final, scored runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, played Ranji, and won the Champions Trophy. That’s all you can do as a human being.”

“This is the Asia Cup team. Don’t attach the World Cup with it because there are 15 T20Is after this. The world changes in 15 T20Is. If he keeps scoring runs in ODIs, sooner or later, Shreyas Iyer will be part of the team. I have a strong feeling that Shreyas Iyer will be a part of India’s T20 World Cup team”
