In Match No.6 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 2, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a resounding 65-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
SRH batted after being sent to the field with a formidable 226/8 in 20 overs courtesy of a thundering start by Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The pair contributed 82 runs on only 34 balls as a first wicket partnership, leaving KKR behind in its early stages. Head hit 46 out of 21 balls, and Abhishek kept up with his pace, hitting 48 out of 21 balls.
Ishan Kishan and Aniket Verma, the skippers, failed to cash in as they were beaten by 14 and one run. But Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilized the innings with a 82-run partnership on the fifth-wicket. Klaasen batted steadily with a composed score of 52 out of 35 balls, four boundaries, and a six that was accompanied by Reddy with 39 useful runs.
In the case of KKR, Blessing Muzarabani was the outstanding player having 4/41 figures and Vaibhav Arora earned two wickets.
To this KKR had a flying start as Finn Allen hit 28 off only seven balls. But wickets continued to fall at frequent intervals. Angkrish Raghuvanshi resisted with a 52 made off 29 balls, and Rinku Singh contributed 35 runs.
All the other batting line-up failed to help them, and KKR was bowled out to 161. In the case of SRH, Jaydev Unadkat who scored 3/21 led, with two wickets each by Eshan Malinga and Reddy.
This victory saw SRH rise to the sixth position with a single win against two matches and KKR drop to the ninth position with two losses against their three matches.
