In the 2026 Sri Lankan fans were very excited as Pathum Nissaka made an amazing diving catch during the ethnocentric game against Australia at the T20 World Cup. The game was held at the R. Premadasa stadium in Colombo on Monday, February 16.
The toss landed in favor of Sri Lanka who decided to bowl first. Australia began very well, with Mitchell Marsh and Travis head making an early break. However, during the middle overs, the spin bowlers of Sri Lanka bowled very well and slackened the scoring.
Glenn Maxwell, who normally attacks spin bowlers, was very much batting with confidence. Maxwell was granted a second opportunity and Nissanka threw on a catch in the 16 th over. However, in the following over, he did not repeat his error.

Dushan Hemantha rolled a high and spinning ball outside off stump. Maxwell struck a reverse to backward point. Nissanka took some steps towards his left, leaped into the sky, and received the ball between the hands. He landed safely on the ground rolling on. At the moment he received the ball his body was nearly parallel to the ground.
