He called the victory a perfect example of determination and self-belief, saying the players showed great courage under pressure. Kohli also appreciated the team’s unity and fighting spirit, which helped them overcome a strong Australian side.

The semifinal toss was won by Australia Women who elected to bat first. The captain of the visitors Alyssa Healy was sent back early, though Phoebe Litchfield scored a brilliant 119 runs. She had the strong support of Ellyse Perry who made 77 and the two formed a good 155 run partnership to make Australia on the offing.
Once Litchfield was dismissed, India counter-attacked well and was able to reduce the rate of scoring. The bowlers got easy wickets and Australia was at 265/6. Ashleigh Gardner followed with a fierce strike of 63 runs, and Kim Garth was capable of chipping in with the consistent England to end up with a good score of 338 in 49.5 overs. Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma were the stars of the Indian bowlers who had two wickets apiece.

In the pursuit of 339, India had a shaky start and lost two wickets with only 59 runs in the 10 th over. But then the game changed its direction with a brilliant partnership of Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur and the scoreboard was ticking and the bat was rotating in a clever manner. The turning point of the match was their cool and confident batting under the pressure.
Richa Ghosh followed later with an additional 26 and Amanjot Kaur with an unbroken 15 assisted India to pass the mark with ease. India pursued the total with five wickets and 9 balls to go. This historical win improved their chances of being in the ICC Women world Cup 2025 final where they would play South Africa on Sunday, November 2.
