Australia’s pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has finally linked up with the Delhi Capitals (DC) for IPL 2026, although fans might have to wait a bit longer to see him in action. The left-arm quick, who had been sidelined with shoulder and elbow injuries, arrived in India on April 25 after completing his rehab back home.
The left-arm seamer has joined the team, but he may not line up for Delhi in its matches against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The franchise plans on gradually bringing him back into the fray and he could be back in action for the May 1 game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

The 35-year-old has arrived early at the camp to adjust to the conditions in India and will begin training with the team in the next few days. This move follows Pat Cummins joining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of his return to the field. As a result, the SRH captain will play the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 25.

Delhi, on the other hand, hasn’t had a run of Luck. They have three wins and three losses and is currently placed sixth in the points table, and will be looking to get into the groove in the latter stages. Openers KL Rahul looked promising in the last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and will play a pivotal role for Delhi in the home games.
Starc’s inclusion in the team will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the side led by Axar Patel. After his successful IPL 2025 campaign with Delhi, where he was one of the main wicket-takers, his return is highly anticipated. The Australian pacer took 14 wickets in 11 games at an average of 26.14 and an economy of 10.17, which, notably, includes his first-ever five-wicket haul in the league.
