The superstar of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) MS Dhoni was also seen interacting with the fans cordially during one of their practices in the forthcoming IPL 2026. The fans appeared to be asking the former India captain to sign an autograph, he smiled and waved that he would sign it later and walked away.
Their IPL 2026 will begin with CSK hosting Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, in March 30. The franchise had to complete 9th in IPL 2025 and Dhoni replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad as the captain in the middle of the season when the latter was disqualified because of an injury.
A fan club of Dhoni uploaded a video on Thursday, March 19, where the CSK legend had an adorable moment with fans, having an exchange after a practice. According to the video, the CSK keeper-batter was asked to sign an autograph by two young Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans. Dhoni however, jokingly indicated at his T-shirt, which may have been an allusion to the fact that the fans were in RCB jersey.

The 44 year old still continued to communicate with the fans and even smiled at their direction as he walked away with his practice kit.

— Yash MSdian ™️ 🦁 (@itzyash07) March 19, 2026 Although some MS Dhoni fans were also happy with the video in which their hero could be seen, there were those who were concerned because the 44-year-old was limping slightly. The ex-CSK captain was having a knee injury and was spotted with a knee brace during the whole 2023 season. He had undergone an operation following his five title wins with CSK in the IPL.
IPL 2026 might be MS Dhoni’s swansong

IPL 2026 may be Dhoni’s final appearance in the lucrative T20 tournament, according to many fans and pundits. The 44-year-old has not yet released an official statement about it. However, there’s a good chance the icon won’t play in the IPL again next season given his fitness concerns and the fact that Sanju Samson was moved to CSK from RR.
In the 2026 Indian Premier League, it would be intriguing to see which of Samson and Dhoni keeps wickets for the Chennai team. Prior to his trade, Samson was RR’s captain and keeper-batter. But since the T20 league began in 2008, Dhoni has been the Chennai team’s first-choice stumper.
