Pant made headlines during his inaugural trip of England in 2018. At Trent Bridge, he lofted Adil Rashid for a straight six over his head off the first ball he faced in Test cricket. He undoubtedly made a spectacular start to his journey in the longest format.
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant steady India after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dominant start on Day 1

The Indian opening duo of KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 91 runs for the first wicket when called into bat by home team captain Ben Stokes. But before lunch, England scored twice in quick succession, dismissing debutant Sai Sudharsan for nothing and Rahul for 42.
In the post-lunch session, Jaiswal and Shubman Gill gave India their momentum back. The pair took full advantage of a calm surface and typical bowling to force Stokes to reconsider his choice at the toss.
In order to put India ahead early in the game, the pair scored 129 runs for the third wicket. Stokes broke the stand when he received a delivery to break Jaiswal’s defense on 101 and caused the furniture to be moved.

India finished the day on a high note with 359/3 after 85 overs in their first innings, with Gill unbeaten on 127 from 175 balls and Rishabh Pant on 65 off 102. With two wickets, England skipper Ben Stokes has been the most productive bowler for the home team.
