Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya’s embarrassing moment at the toss for the IPL 2025 Eliminator between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) went viral online. On Friday, May 30, the two sides played their knockout match at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
An thrilling incident happened during the match’s toss, when MI captain Hardik Pandya made the correct decision to bat first. He and Gill had a tense moment when Pandya was heading to the broadcaster to talk. Hardik Pandya appeared to shake hands with his counterpart, but Gill passed right by him without saying anything.

After MI decided to bat first, Rohit Sharma quickly scored an important 81 runs, despite two caught-and-dropped chances in the game. He used the opportunities the reprieves gave him and hit four massive sixes and nine fours in his innings.
Hardik Pandya (22), Tilak Varma (25), Suryakumar Yadav (33), and Jonny Bairstow (47) all made respectable contributions. They contributed to MI’s overwhelming 228/5 in 20 overs. In the second innings, MI bowlers worked together in difficult dewy conditions to limit GT to 208/6. Despite his best efforts, Sai Sudharsan (80) was unable to win the battle.
Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match after making an important contribution in the first innings. Reflecting on his knock, Sharma stated:
“I have got only 4 50s, would have liked more. Good day for us as a team, I understand the importance of the Eliminator and taking the step forward, but another performance that I am proud of. When I play the game, it is about how I can do my best, keeping everything aside, and making sure that I can do the job for my team.
