India and Australia played the third ODI on a Saturday, October 25 with Shreyas Iyer removing Alex Carey who was dismissed on a brilliant catch. Iyer ran back with the ball in reverse and made a perfect judgment of the ball and jumped at the right time to make a breathtaking catch. But when he landed clumsily he appeared to have injured himself and went off the field with the physio to have him treated.
The wicket was broken by the bowling of Harshit Rana and it cut off the partnership between Carey and Matt Renshaw. Logically Carey attempted to strike a short ball directly down the ground but hit it high in the air approaching the space between the point backwards and the third man. Iyer ran back with the full speed, with his eyes on the ball and made a brilliant catch to provide India with a breakthrough.

Shreyas Iyer was seen in visible pain after taking a brilliant catch earlier in the game. Despite receiving quick treatment from the physio and support from his teammates, he appeared to be clutching his abdominal area and struggled to move freely. Eventually, he had to leave the field with the physio and did not return immediately. It is still uncertain whether he will be fit to bat later during India’s run chase.
Soon after, drinks were taken on the field. Harshit Rana, who had already claimed Carey’s wicket, struck again to pick up his second scalp. Bowling a hard length delivery, he got Mitchell Owen to edge one straight to Rohit Sharma at first slip. The new batter walked back for just one run, giving India another important breakthrough.

Australia defeated the first two matches of the ODI trip by seven and two wickets already, thus sealing the series. Now the attention will be centered on the next 5 match T20I series that will start on Wednesday, October 29.
