Narendra Modi Stadium

The final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and the official schedule will be published by the ICC in the nearest future. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to limit the host cities this time as opposed to the 2023 ODI World Cup. The concept is to provide each stadium with a decent amount of matches at minimum six to be consistent in pitch preparation and logistics.

It is reported that the BCCI has shortlisted five large venues, which include Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai as host cities of India. Meanwhile, the co-host Sri Lanka will host several matches in three stadiums although the most complete list of them in the host country is not yet determined. Although in Bengaluru and Lucknow, there are questions regarding the suitability of the two cities as host cities to host the 20-team international tournament.

Interestingly, the BCCI has chosen not to go to stadiums where matches were held during the ICC Women 50 over World Cup in the recent past. Other stadiums like the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Visakhapatnam ACA-VDCA Stadium, Indore holkar stadium and Navi Mumbai DY Patil Sports Academy have also been left out of hosting this men T20 world cup.

Meanwhile, the ICC has been reported to have told the BCCI that in case Sri Lanka qualifies in the semifinals the game will be played in Colombo. Knockout games will be hosted in a neutral venue in case Pakistan makes it to the final, according to the diplomatic agreement between the two cricket boards. This choice guarantees the facilitation of the smoothing of the schedule with no political issues.

Also, the India-Pakistan much-awaited group stage will be held in Colombo. This comes after both countries had signed an agreement that both countries shall host each other at neutral grounds in ICC or bilateral tournaments until at least 2031. It was decided to keep peace and escape the issue of traveling between the two countries.
