Shubman Gill, the Indian captain, visited Guwahati and was preparing the second Test against South Africa along with his teammates. Nonetheless, the series finale is not certain about his appearance. The Punjab batsman is recuperating an injury to the neck that he got in the opening of the first Test on the Eden Gardens last week.
Shubman was forced to leave the field after only receiving three balls during Day 2. Rishabh Pant could not take part in the game as he was the stand-in captain during the rest of the match. The patient aged 26 was hospitalized and put under observation. The following day he was set free to the satisfaction of Indian fans.

On Wednesday (November 19) the BCCI released a statement to accuse Shubman of the trip to Guwahati along with his teammates and the medical team will follow his health status with an eye on the second Test, which starts on Saturday. Board said that his participation in the series decider would be decided later in the week.
Injury Setback: Shubman Gill Doubtful for Remainder of SA Series
This morning Shubman flew into Kolkata Airport wearing a neck brace. Although, he landed in Guwahati, the supportive medical equipments were not attached. Although this brought hope to the fans, the most recent reports might bring them down again.

India today reported that Shubman Gill is likely to skip the second test and that he may not even play in the subsequent three match ODI series against South Africa. As proposed, team management is not ready to make any risk considering a tight international schedule. It is possible to give the right-handed hitter a rest in the series of the ODI and enable him to resume full fitness in the next assignments.
In case Gill cannot participate in the second Test, Sai Sudharsan or Devdutt Padikkal might be recruited. The Vice Captain will also head the team and be referred to as Pant. India are 0-1 behind the series losing the first Test by 30 runs.
