Suryakumar Yadav of Team India practiced with his Mumbai teammates and dogs ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand. The Men in Blue will welcome the Kiwis for five T20Is commencing Wednesday, January 21.
Suryakumar Yadav began with a short backward jog, his pet canines following in his footsteps. He was also spotted playing with them using a red ball. The great batter was later spotted participating in a hard jogging workout with his Mumbai teammates.

He first described the practice to his teammates and then showed it for them by running between cones. They then began the running drill. Suryakumar continued to elucidate the drill’s subtleties in between. After the lesson ended, he sat down to relax and feed his pets. He was spotted watching with delight while his pets ate.

The India T20I captain will need to lead the way in the T20Is vs New Zealand. Ahead of the New Zealand series, the captain will need to find his form and rhythm again so he is back at 100% for the T20 World Cup 2026 that starts soon after the Kiwis leave.
Suryakumar Yadav had a tough 2025 with the bat in T20Is

But, he could not transfer the form to international cricket. The right-hander didn’t score in his 3 matches this year in T20Is. During Asia Cup 2025, he managed to score just 72 runs from 6 innings at an average of 18.00 and strike rate of 101.40. His four innings against South Africa at home last factor into that, and he managed just 34 runs in them.
He scored 218 runs from only 19 T20I stints in the year, averaging a disappointing 13.62 at a strike rate of 123.16. He never managed a fifty.
