Sri Lanka officially began their co-hosting duties for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a trophy reveal at the R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo. Daredevils parachuted down and landed on the ground before the first ODI between Sri Lanka and England with the famous trophy, creating a truly spectacular sight.
The incident occurred prior to Sri Lanka’s inaugural one-day international against England. Professional skydivers descended in synchrony, one carrying the ICC T20 World Cup trophy. While the landing was mostly exact, the parachutes dragged briefly across the turf before the diver arrived safely in the center circle.

— Sri Lanka Cricket 🇱🇰 (@OfficialSLC) January 22, 2026 The R. Premadasa Stadium will also feature eight matches including the India-Pakistan clash as well as other high-profile encounters. The trophy will next spend four days in Kandy, Dambulla, and Jaffna.

Apart from Colombo, the Trophy Tour broke another record earlier this week when it was flown over Adam’s Bridge (Ram Setu) in a two-seater paramotor. Now the question mark about Bangladesh’s participation has once again been raised. Bangladesh has rejected the ICC ultimatum, refusing to play World Cup matches in India due to security concerns, even at the risk of exclusion. The Bangladesh government and BCB have cited the Mustafizur Rahman IPL incident as evidence of ongoing safety issues, accusing both the ICC and Indian authorities of failing to address their concerns.
