Ishan Kishan comeback into the Indian team appears to be going well. The Jharkhand batsman converted India’s practice match against South Africa into a highlight reel moment with a six that summed up his current T20 luck.
The incident happened in the fifth over, when South African fast Anrich Nortje dug in a sharp bumper from around the wicket. Ishan Kishan, stuck between two thoughts, tried a pull that was anything but convincing at first glance.

The delivery ascended awkwardly, and Kishan seemed to bail out of the picture. However, he was able to make several as they sailed off his top edge and dropped over the rope, leaving the bowler shaking his head and the batsman smiling as he strolled across to his batting partner Abhishek Sharma.

— Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) February 4, 2026 As much as the six appeared to be a fortuitous one, the overall performance of Kishan was anything short of that. The left hander batted with passion and freedom and made 53 out of the 20 balls to provide India with an important momentum in the warm-up game before the T20 world cup. He later retired having done just as expected in a practice game with some top level pace bowling.
Indian Batters Dominate as Team Posts Massive Total

The Indian batters staged a clinical display with the bat, registering 240 against the Proteas, and all other Indians batters were virtually hitting at a high rate. Before retiring, Abhishek Sharma had made 24 out of 18 balls.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav maintained his blistering pace and made 30 runs out of 16 balls, whereas Hardik Pandya, Tilka Varma, Axar Patel, and Rinku Singh made some handy cameos. The real highlight of the Indian innings however was the absence of Sanju Samson.
