Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are 5-time champions, have filed a formal complaint with the Board of control, Cricket in India because of an alleged incident during their Indian Premier League 2026 match at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on April 5.
As a press report by The Indian Express suggests, the song prompted concerns when the DJ playing in the stadium played the song, Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney, at the match. The song, written by musician Gana Appu, has become viral on social media and can be used in the culture of memes, occasionally supporting stereotypes related to South Indian identity. The franchise was quoted saying that the context and time the song was used was unacceptable and disrespectful.
An IPL official revealed that the governing council of the league has taken into consideration the complaint and is following up on the issue. This case has been of attention because of the sensitivity involved in the regional representation and fan culture in this tournament.
The song was not originally controversial and Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper, was caught singing it last year, prompting the ire of CSK fans. By this time, the Chennai-based franchise had intervened in an effort to calm down the situation and fans were encouraged to not attack opposition players on such grounds.

Betrayal of the matter by the franchise by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan also confirmed that the franchise had officially brought the matter to the attention of the BCCI. He mentioned that the compliant was not on the song alone but also on issues arising on specific remarks that were made towards the Chennai players on the match.
CSK Object to DJ Remarks During RCB Clash
Viswanathan also mentioned that there had been no incidences of this nature following the previous incident with Jitesh, until the April 5 game. The franchise is waiting to have the right move taken by the authorities as the issue is still under investigation.
“The DJs are usually there to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering that, we have written to the BCCI to look into it,” Kasi said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“After that incident, there hadn’t been any repeat. The DJ isn’t supposed to make comments on opposition players. Moreover, we are fortunate to have a lovely fanbase that supports us in large numbers,” he added.
The song was not the only thing that attracted the objection of CSK. The franchise also was recorded to have been offended by some of the comments by the stadium DJ after they fired their players. Although this is a popular element of the job of a DJ at the match, the fact that CSK was attacking the opposition players seemed to him to push too far and was not appropriate.

Chennai had ended up losing that encounter against RCB. The five-time champions began their IPL 2026 season hard, losing the three matches they played. But they were able to bounce back with two consecutive home wins. The CSK will now have to encounter the Sunrisers Hyderdatabase on April 18 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
In the meantime, RCB have strived to be one of the most successful teams in this season. They are now leading the points table having beaten Lucknow Super Giants in their home ground. RCB have won five out of the five games played till now with the only loss against the Royals of Rajasthan in Guwahati.
