Jasprit Bumrah is not having a great Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as he has so far failed to score a wicket this season and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been unable to win the last four matches.
A video of Bumrah, in their previous match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has leaked on the social media, causing apprehensions on the part of fans following the recent loss of MI against Punjab Kings (PBKS). In the video, the pacer is seen to show frustration, throwing a bowling marker, yelling at the ground and even kicking the turf.
In that game RCB registered an impressive 240/6, and MI had 222/5. Bumrah wasn’t able to have an easy time and gave up 35 runs in his four overs without making a wicket.

A number of past cricketers and analysts have also given their opinion on his lean streak. MI head coach, Mahela Jayawardene, noted that Jasprit Bumrah has been pressurized by a lack of support at other end of the powerplay by other bowlers. He also revealed that the pacer had been dealing with a niggle at the start of the season, which may have impacted his rhythm.
“Bumrah is bowling well; it is just that we are not putting pressure on the opposition in the powerplay. They know they don’t need to take too many risks against Bumrah. We have tried a few different things which he is also attempting, but the opposition is batting well. I can’t point to one specific thing and say that is why he hasn’t taken a wicket,” said Jayawardene as quoted by NDTV Sports.
“I think initially it was because he had a slight niggle following the World Cup. We wanted to build him up, and over the last few games, his speeds have increased. We have monitored all of that, so he is very comfortable. Sometimes, you just need a bit of luck. He bowled some really good balls early on to Shreyas Iyer but wasn’t lucky enough to get the breakthrough. Once he starts taking wickets, he might be impossible to stop,” he added.
