On April 25, Saturday, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will play Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in Match No. 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Captain Pat Cummins is ready to play his first game of the season.
Pat Cummins could not play the first half of the IPL due to the fact that he had been managing his workload as per the Cricket Australia (CA) rules. Nevertheless, the cricketer is back and will be spotted with the cap of the captain in place of Ishan Kishan who has led the Sunrisers to win up to four out of seven matches played with a good net run-rate (NRR) of 0.620.
“Been a long time coming, stinging to get back into it tomorrow,” Cummins shared in a social media post via his official Instagram handle, hinting his return to the dressing room.

The England all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who has struggled with both the bat and the ball for the Hyderabad-based team, is probably going to be replaced by Cummins. In addition to Cummins, the other foreign players who are most likely to be included in SRH’s starting lineup for the season are Travis Head (opening batsman), Heinrich Klaasen (wicketkeeper-batter), and Eshan Malinga (fast bowler).
SRH in strong position

For those who are unaware, SRH currently has eight points, putting them in the top four in the points table. The 2016 champions have a great chance to get to the finals and secure their much anticipated second championship in the prestigious T20 event with seven games left.
Since the successful international skipper also guided the team to an IPL final in 2024, where they sadly lost to Kolkata Knight Riders, Cummins’ return will infuse the SRH dressing room with new energy. But since half the work has already been done and they just need to make the start matter, the New South Wales cricket player will be confident in his leadership skills to win the trophy.
