Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has offered an update on his rib injury following a close defeat over the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025. The game was played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. Samson claimed that although he felt OK, he wasn’t prepared to bat again.
Just as he was starting to feel comfortable in the wicket, the player from Kerala had retired injured in the sixth over of the innings, which was delivered by Vipraj Nigam. Then, to the right of long-on, Samson lofted a shot. But after scoring 31 off 19 balls, the discomfort got so bad that he had to walk back to the dressing room.

The 30-year-old discussed his injuries, gave the bowlers credit, and said that the 189-run score was chasable during the post-match presentation.
“It feels alright (His injury). I wasn’t just ready to come back and bat. It feels alright now. We will observe it tomorrow and see how it is.”We bowled really well. There were phases when they came hard at us. I would like to give credit to our bowlers and fielders. The energy on the ground was fantastic. I thought that score was chaseable given the batting lineup which we had. The start which we got in the powerplay, I felt it was definitely a chaseable score.”

The Capitals’ leading scorer, Abhishek Porel, scored 49 runs off 37 deliveries. Their team reached 188/5 with to the last flourish from Axar Patel (34) and Tristan Stubbs (34*). KL. Rahul, who had been playing freely prior to this match, managed to score a grueling 38 off 32 deliveries.
“I would like to give it to Starcy” – Sanju Samson

Mitchell Starc bowled the Capitals to win as the game entered the super over, and the keeper-batter couldn’t resist but give the Australian left-arm quick some props. Samson went on:
“I think as we all saw some fantastic bowling by Starcy. He is one of the best guys around in the world. I would like to give it to Starcy. He won them the game in the 20th over. Plan was to swing hard. I think (Sandeep) has been bowling the toughest overs for us in the last few years. Starcy took it away. A win today could have created some positivity in the dressing room.”
