KL Rahul, the Delhi Capitals’ keeper-batsman, rushed away quickly after shaking Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka’s hand following the IPL 2025 game between the two teams on Tuesday at the Ekana Stadium. Following the 2024 season, KL Rahul was let go after serving as captain of the Lucknow-based team for three years.
Following a dispute during the 2024 season, KL Rahul and Goenka reportedly fell out. On the field following LSG’s 10-wicket loss to SunRisers Hyderabad the previous season, Goenka and Rahul engaged in a lively conversation.

The keeper-batter earned his third half-century of season 3 while hitting 57 non-outs from his 42 balls which included three fours and three sixes to lead the Capitals to an eight-wicket triumph. During the fourth over of chase when Karun Nair scored 15 runs the 33-year-old entered the match to hit sixty. He and Abhishek Porel composed 69 runs in 49 balls during the batting partnership.
The Capitals won with eight wickets and 13 balls remaining after Porel’s wicket and an unbroken 56 from him and Axar Patel (34*). Axar had chosen to field first after winning the toss earlier. With 87 runs in 10 overs, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram had given the Super Giants a great start. Despite Ayush Badoni’s impressive 36 off 21 balls, none of the other middle-order batsmen were able to contribute much.

In the aftermath of the game, Rishabh Pant will be closely watched after recording another duck.
