Rohit Sharma, a star Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, maintained his recent form in the IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 23. Following a poor start to the season, in which he only managed 82 runs in his first six appearances, the 37-year-old achieved back-to-back half-centuries.
Rohit ended his batting dry spell with a match-winning 76* score from 45 balls that led MI past the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last game. After his first fifty in recent matches the champion batter continued his streak by striking 70 runs from 46 balls during the SRH game.
IPL fans waited to learn which IPL match brought Rohit his second consecutive 50+ score run because it had been a long time since he achieved this dual half-century situation. Fans need to look back to 2016 to find the last instance of Rohit scoring consecutive half-centuries in the IPL.
Rohit hit 68 runs without any dismissal from 49 balls to guide MI to a six-wicket victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). An even superior 85* runs off 60 balls against the Rising Pune Supergiants allowed him to guide his team to a victory by eight wickets.
The two half-century knocks became Rohit’s third consecutive fifty run-scoring game after he achieved them one match after hitting half centuries against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (DC) and Delhi Capitals (DC) during that season.
One of Rohit’s most successful IPL seasons was 2016, when he finished with 489 runs in 14 games with a strike rate of 132.88 and an average of 44.45.

In eight games, Rohit also increased his season total of runs to 228 at an average of 32.57 and a strike rate of 154.05.
With ten points from nine games, the victory has moved MI up to third position in the standings. On April 27, they will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at home in an attempt to win five straight games.
