On Thursday (May 8), ex-Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag gave a harsh warning to Pakistan as tensions at the border escalated. In a statement put on X, the retired Indian cricket player accused the neighboring country of attempting to shield terrorists and threatened to use force to retaliate.
Tensions between the two nations flared up massively on Thursday with the war torn nation of Pakistan making attacks on the city of Jammu and several other adjoining cities with drones by night. It led to a failure of floodlights in the IPL 2025 match between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings at the Dharamsala Stadium but the spectators evacuated the stadium safely. The game was called off after only ten-overths in the first innings of play.
Sehwag expressed his support for the Indian military by posting the following on X:
“War has been chosen by Pakistan when they had an opportunity to keep quiet. They have escalated to save it’s terrorist assets, speaks so much about them. Our forces will reply in the most appropriate manner, a manner Pakistan will never forget.”

India carried out the operation after 26 indigenous civilians were killed by terrorists in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April, 2025.
Arun Dhumal Confirms BCCI Awaiting Government Input on IPL 2025
Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the Indian Premier League, was spotted directing the fans to leave the Dharamsala Stadium during Thursday’s match. Following the abandoned fixture, Dhumal told PTI:
“We are reviewing the situation right now. It’s an evolving situation. We haven’t received any directive from the government. Decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind.”
Additionally, he asserted that the May 9 match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is still scheduled “as of now.”
There are just 15 games remaining in the ten-team tournament until the final, which has entered its business end. What the government decides to do is still up in the air, though.
