The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended for one week due to growing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. This decision was made on Friday, May 9, less than twenty-four hours after the Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs. Delhi Capitals (DC) match was called off owing to a power outage brought on by a major technical malfunction in the region that caused one of the light towers to go out.
Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the Indian Premier League, stated that a decision on the tournament’s future will be made after the situation between India and Pakistan is evaluated in the next few days. With 16 games remaining in the 18th edition, fans are predicting that the IPL may relocate outside of India.

The famous English magazine The Cricketer reported among the rumors that the BCCI has been offered the opportunity to host the remaining 16 IPL 2025 matches in the UK by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Remarkably, Michael Vaughan, the former captain of England, had proposed the identical concept on his ‘X’ account.
“I wonder if it’s possible to finish the IPL in the UK .. We have all the venues, and the Indian players can then stay on for the Test series. Just a thought ?” he wrote.
Interestingly, other from India, only two other nations have hosted the IPL. Due to a conflict with the multi-phase 2009 Indian general elections, the cash-rich league’s 2009 edition was staged in South Africa. Due to factors including elections and the COVID-19 outbreak, the United Arab Emirates has also hosted the Indian Premier League for a number of years.

Although the Punjab Kings versus Delhi Capitals clash had to be abandoned, the other game scheduled to be played on Friday which is Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru has not met its same fate. These two teams will clash hands when the 10-team tournament next gets underway.
