Heinrich Klaasen scored the joint-third fastest hundred in the IPL

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) 278/3 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, earning them their second 250+ IPL 2025 total. After 287/3 and 286/6, the current IPL record of 278 is the third-highest total ever. The SunRisers scored them in their matches against the Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), respectively.

The total of 286/6 against the Royals was only achieved previously this season at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. During the contest, Ishan Kishan hit a hundred runs.

Heinrich Klaasen, who came in at number three, inflicted the most damage on Sunday by smashing an undefeated 39-ball 105. Against the reigning champs, he led the SunRisers to a commanding score. When SRH crushed the Mumbai Indians 277/3 previous year, they also had the fourth-highest IPL total.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma got off to a scorching start, building a 92-run partnership in just 6.5 overs, which Klaasen improved upon. Head was joined at number three by the keeper-batter, who contributed 83 runs before leaving for a 40-ball 76. To set up a huge run chase for Ajinkya Rahane and company, Ishan Kishan also contributed with a 20 from 29 balls.

SRH Beats Kolkata Knight Riders by a Huge Margin

The Knight Riders began their chase with some promise, having set a lofty objective of 278, which seemed intimidating. However, Sunil Narine was bowled by Jaydev Unadkat and perished for 31 from 16 deliveries. Ajinkya Rahane (15) and Quinton de Kock (9) were removed quickly after each other. Rinku Singh (9) and Andre Russell (0) were then sent back to the pavilion after left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey hit twice in a single over.

The defending champions were five overs into the 14th over, 110/7 and barely able to keep up with the required run rate. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled Kolkata Knight Riders out for 168 as they belted a commanding win by 110 runs (largest winning margin in IPL history). Surprisingly, finalists in IPL 2024 did not find their place in playoffs this season.
