Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli (R) is congratulated by Punjab Kings' captain Shreyas Iyer after their win

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 to secure their spot in the final match after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated them in Qualifier 1 to get to the IPL 2025 Final. RCB and PBKS are fighting for their first IPL title on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The 2025 season will see a new team lift the precious cup and become the champions, as both RCB and PBKS had ever won an IPL title in the previous 17 years. Both sides will be fired up for tonight’s matchup after putting on outstanding performances in their respective prior games.

We examine the three-player battles to look out for in the IPL 2025 final between RCB and PBKS, now that the stage is prepared for the major match:

1. Virat Kohli vs Kyle Jamieson

Virat Kohli has performed well with the bat this season by playing some excellent innings at the top with Phil Salt. RCB’s batting relies heavily on how their top order performs and the duo of the openers has mainly powered the team’s wins.

The former RCB captain will face Kyle Jamieson, PBKS’ new-ball bowler who dismissed him in their previous match (Qualifier 1). Despite taking just one wicket against MI in Qualifier 2, Jamieson struck at the right time to dismiss Tilak Varma (44 off 29).

Kohli scored five runs off of the six deliveries he faced after Jamieson dismissed him once in T20 cricket. However, the Kiwi pace has taken Kohli’s wicket three times in their famous encounters in international cricket.

2. Josh Inglis vs Josh Hazlewood

Josh Inglis has been incredibly focused in every game this season and will be fired up for tonight’s match between PBKS and RCB, which might decide the outcome. However, as he did in Qualifier 1, Josh Hazlewood will try to move the dangerous batter out of his team’s path.

Hazlewood gave RCB a game-changing blow by dismissing both Inglis and PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, ultimately resulting in a convincing win.

Inglis has scored only three runs in six deliveries over two innings and has twice been dismissed by Hazlewood. Given that both players are playing at their best right now, it will be fascinating to watch who wins the next summit match.

3. Shreyas Iyer vs Suyash Sharma

Shreyas Iyer led Punjab Kings’ chase with a composed half-century, Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians

PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer led his team to victory in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai with an undefeated 87-run performance off 41 balls, one of the best knocks of his life and possibly the best of the season. He hit five fours and eight maximums in his innings, and since he will be playing at the same location, he will try to maintain that momentum in the next match.

Suyash Sharma had an excellent game against PBKS in Qualifier 1 and was named ‘Player of the Match’ for it. He claimed three dismissals in three overs, giving away 17 runs, as the Shreyas Iyer team managed only 101 runs before being bowled out.

Iyer has performed well against both fast and slow bowlers. Therefore, I am eager to follow how this will develop.
