Ravindra Jadeja had an interesting interaction with on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney when he pumped his fists in front of him following a successful ball change. The amusing incident happened at the conclusion of the 27th over of the first Test’s fourth innings. In response, Gaffaney grinned and gave the all-rounder a back pat.
Notably, India had been requesting a change in the ball being used for quite some time. But their efforts to do so were unsuccessful. The ball was tested through the hoops following the aforementioned over, and the umpires selected a replacement ball because the ball failed the test.

England entered lunch at 117 for no loss in 30 overs, having started the day at 21/0 in six overs. Zak Crawley (42* off 93) provided solid assistance for Ben Duckett (64* off 89), who reached his 15th Test half-century. In order to maintain England in the quest for a historic victory, the opening pair established a strong foundation by gradually lowering the aim.

After lunch, England maintained their momentum and successfully chased down the 371 mark with five wickets in hand. The middle order helped to ensure there were no late snags, as Duckett and Crawley led from the front. India’s bowlers failed to make an impact in time, despite disciplined early periods from Bumrah and Siraj. England’s final-day batting performance was strong and under control, sealing the victory.
