Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for Team India, was praised by supporters via memes following his forceful performance during the opening innings of the second Test match against England on Wednesday, July 2. The match is being held at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Ben Stokes, the English captain, chose to bowl first in the game after winning the toss. While England pacers Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse gained some traction on the new surface, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul played cautiously against the new ball.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (87), who had scored a century in the 1st Test, maintained his strong play and skillfully balanced aggression and caution to keep his team’s scoreboard moving. In the first innings, he helped the visiting team establish a respectable foundation by stitching 80 and 66-run partnerships with Karun Nair and Shubman Gill. He was denied the opportunity to score consecutive hundreds on English soil as Ben Stokes terminated his 107-ball performance in the 46th over.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive batting effort on the first day of the second Test wowed the crowd. Fans posted amusing memes contrasting his disparate batting and fielding performances in the current series, recalling his several mis-fields from the previous Test. The top memes are as follows:

Captain Shubman Gill Stands Tall With Unbeaten Hundred as India End Day 1 Strong at Edgbaston

Shubman Gill put the visiting team ahead following the departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal with a 47-run stand for the fourth wicket with Rishabh Pant. Pant got off to a fast start against off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, but he was unable to convert it and was dismissed for 25 (42).
Chris Woakes then dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy (1), reducing India to 211/5 in 61.4 overs. With a sensible knock, Shubman Gill kept his team’s innings intact. On the first day of the second Test, he was well-aided by veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (41*), who and he put on a 99-run unbeaten partnership for the sixth wicket, taking India to 310/5 in 85 overs before stumps.

In the last hour of the day, Gill reached his seventh Test century and was still undefeated at 114 (216). Since taking over as captain of the Indian Test team, he has scored two straight hundreds in as many games.
