India's captain Suryakumar Yadav tosses the ball during the second Twenty20 international cricket match

Suryakumar Yadav led India to victory in the third T20I against South Africa on Sunday, December 14. The hosts triumphed by seven wickets in Dharamsala and led 2-1.

Suryakumar Yadav, however, was not at his best with the bat. The captain failed to ignite again as CSL played across the lines. India bowled first and then limited South Africa to 117 all out. At 4 walked Suryakumar. Not only that, but with the absence of pressure from his target he was also unable to close it out.

He was dismissed for 12 off 11 balls, striking at 109.09. At the post-match press conference, he said that he was batting beautifully in the nets and was out of runs but not out of form.

However, supporters mocked him for another terrible performance and chastised him for his post-game remarks.

“No, Suryakumar Yadav. You are out of form as well as out of runs. Stop lying every time you get the mic,” a fan wrote on X.

“2 years peak against Portugal and Argentina and they said Suryakumar Yadav is better than Virat Kohli 😭,” another fan tweeted.

Below are some other reactions from fans on X –

Enough is enough Suryakumar Yadav is playing just because he is the captain. This is literally his 10th consecutive match he has failed in.

Wtf is this performance, This is what happens when you know the coach will save you again.🙏 pic.twitter.com/8QjN9ExqPv

He will want to perform well with the bat in the series’ final two matches. The fourth game will be played on Wednesday, December 17, and the final match will be held on Friday, December 19.

Suryakumar Yadav’s poor form continues from Asia Cup 2025

Suryakumar Yadav has not been himself with the bat ever since the start of Asia Cup 2025. The southpaw had managed just 72 runs in six innings at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 101.40 in the quadrennial event.

Post Asia Cup, India went to Australia and played a five-match T20I series. Even as their captain continued to flounder with the bat, they won the series. He made just 84 runs from four innings, batting averagely at 28.00.

Suryakumar Yadav, though, couldn’t make much of an impact with the bat. The captain was all at sea trying to get going, and it led to another woeful showing. India bowled first and held South Africa to 117 all out. Suryakumar came in at No. 4. Without target pressure, however, he couldn’t close it out.

He fell for 12 runs from 11 balls, striking at a rate of 109.09. He said at the post-match press conference that he was batting beautifully in the nets and out of runs but not form.
