“Akash Deep Has made an amazing comeback in this game. His bowling line and length were amazing in this game. He did not give any chances to england players to stand firm. Congratulations for maiden 5 wickets haul,” remarked a fan.
“Akashdeep. The man. The myth. The legend. I still fail to understand how was he not played in the first test. He had proved himself beyond doubt in the Australian series itself,” chimed in another.

India’s playing XI for the first Test series match at Headingley, Leeds, did not include Akash. The visitors failed to defend a 371-run goal in the last innings and lost by five wickets.
Akash replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the team after the ace quick was rested for the second Test. With his outstanding bowling performance, he took full advantage of the chance and helped India tie the five-match series 1-1.
Akash Deep is the second Indian bowler to bag a 10-wicket haul in Tests at Edgbaston

Akash Deep became the second Indian bowler to take 10 wickets at Edgbaston in Test cricket. With numbers of 4/130 and 6/58 in 1986, former Indian bowler Chetan Sharma was the first to accomplish the feat.
Akash’s Test stats of 4/88 and 6/99 were the best ever recorded by an Indian bowler in England. During the post-match presentation, India captain Shubman Gill praised the seamer’s effort (via Cricbuzz):
“He (Akash Deep) bowled with so much heart. The areas and lengths he hit, he was getting the ball to move both ways. On wickets like these, it’s difficult to do that, he was just magnificent for us.”

India’s victory of 336 runs, meanwhile, is their largest run total away from home. From July 10 to 14, Lord’s in London will host the third Test of India vs. England’s five-match series.
