India has won significant successes abroad throughout the past ten years. Specifically, Virat Kohli’s bold captaincy gave the Indian team more fire and confidence. They thereby developed the habit of winning matches while receiving the best assistance possible from the bowling unit.

Shubman Gill, the recently elected captain, has already made a lasting impression in his debut series as captain by leading India to their largest away victory (by runs).

On that point, let’s look at the team’s best wins on foreign land.

1. 336 runs vs England, 2025

India were asked to bat first and scored a total of 587, with Gill (269 off 387 balls), playing an amazing innings. It still remains the all-time individual score for an Indian on the English soil.

In response, Mohammed Siraj claimed six wickets, leaving England all out for 407. Gill (161) maintained his pace in the second innings, which helped India declare at 427/6. They gave the Ben Stokes-led team an enormous 608-run target.

In retaliation, the Caribbean side was bowled out at 222, courtesy of the Ishant Sharma fifer. Next, Rahane (102) and Hanuma Vihari (93) saw to it that the side put up a 419-run target on the home side.

Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets to dismiss Sri Lanka on 291. Next, skipper Virat Kohli (103*) was okay so far as he assisted the tourists to declare at 240/3 and pose a target of 550 to the host nation.

In the end, Sri Lanka was bowled for 245 after Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin split six wickets.

4. 295 runs vs Australia, 2024

Jasprit Bumrah celebrates his first Test win as captain, Australia vs India

India shocked everyone who doubted them by defeating Australia in the opening match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. In November 2024, Jasprit Bumrah captained the Indian team in Perth in Rohit Sharma’s absence.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (41) returned as the top scorer after India’s decision to bat first backfired, as they were all out for just 150. Then, with his 5/30 numbers, Bumrah proved to be too much to handle, as the Australian batsman could only muster 104.

India, full of confidence, declared a solid 487/6 thanks to Virat Kohli (100*) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (161).

India won by 295 runs thanks to three wickets apiece from Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who dismissed Australia for 238.
