Mohammed Siraj is bowled by Shoaib Bashir as England win the third Rothesay Test Match

Mohammed Siraj, a pacer for India, wrote a social media post on Tuesday, July 15, discussing the team’s devastating loss to England at Lord’s in the third Test. On Monday, July 14, the fifth day, the contest came to a conclusion.

India collapsed to 147/9 in 61.3 overs when chasing a goal of 193, with Ravindra Jadeja holding firm at one end while wickets kept falling all around him. With 46 runs needed, Siraj joined Jadeja at the crease.

The pair combined a tenacious 23 runs off 80 balls for the final wicket before Mohammed Siraj was bowled by off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, the ball dripping onto the stumps, much to the chagrin of the Indian team. India lost by 22 runs after being bowled out for 170, with Siraj managing four off 30 deliveries and Jadeja remaining undefeated with a valiant 61 from 181 balls.

“Probably it wouldn’t have even fallen” – Dinesh Karthik’s bold take on Mohammed Siraj’s dismissal at Lord’s

Ben Stokes of England talks to Mohammed Siraj of India at the end of play during day five of the third test match

Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has responded to Mohammed Siraj’s devastating dismissal on the final day of the Lord’s Test. The 40-year-old said on Sky Sports that the wicket most likely wouldn’t have fallen if zinger bails—LED bails—had been used in place of the conventional wooden ones. Karthik stated:

“If it was zinger bail, probably it wouldn’t have even fallen because it’s pretty heavy in itself. (The ball) Hit the rough and went around, it almost felt like it had to happen because of how the match was panning out but great effort from India. They can take a lot of happiness out of the way they actually fought in that middle session.”
