Former South African captain AB de Villiers is scheduled to return play cricket in the forthcoming World Championship of Legends 2025. Fans recently got a peek at the daring batter’s training with a few images he posted on Instagram.
Legendary Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh left a humorous comment in response to the post. He sarcastically implied that de Villiers could only play golf from here on.

It is important to note that in 2018, AB de Villiers declared his intention to retire from international cricket. After that, he kept playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In 2021, he gave up playing cricket altogether.
Much to the excitement of his admirers, de Villiers is about to return to cricket action. In the World Championship of Legends 2025 and the T20 competition, he will captain the South African champions.
Wayne Parnell, Chris Morris, Hashim Amla, and Albie Morkel are among the other South African retired cricket players on the team.
Yuvraj Singh, meanwhile, has been selected the season’s captain of the Indian Champions team. He will be in charge of players like Ambati Rayudu, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and Irfan Pathan.

AB de Villiers said he was thrilled to be playing for the South African champions in the 2025 World Championship of Legends. The 41-year-old made the following statement about his comeback in a statement released by South Africa Champions (via NDTV):
“There’s nothing like playing for South Africa. Being back with this group of legends, in front of fans who’ve always supported us, is truly special. WCL is a celebration of cricket’s spirit–and we’re here not just to participate, but to compete and ultimately to win.”

The 2025 World Championship of Legends will feature teams of India, South Africa, the West Indies, Australia, England and Pakistan. The rivalry gets started on Friday, July 18. In the first match England Champions and Pakistan Champions will clash with each other.
