Anshul Kamboj, a right-arm pacer did not get picked in the main Test squad against England. He made two appearances of India A in two Tests following Stage first against England Lions just before the play began in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
However, Kamboj received his first India cap before the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. The Karnal-born cricketer was one of the standouts on the India A trip, but he was not selected for the five-match series.
The 24-year-old joined the team captained by Shubman Gill due to injuries hitting the squad hard. Akash Deep, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Arshdeep Singh all got ruled out for the Manchester match, so they brought him in for this crucial game that India needs to win. He picked up 17 wickets in 10 matches during Haryana’s winning run in the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Who is Anshul Kamboj?

Anshul Kamboj is a bowler whose smooth action got noticed in the team circles. He first got picked by Mumbai Indians in 2024 but was traded to Chennai Super Kings before the season. There, he took eight wickets in eight games with an economy of 8.00. He also set a cool record by grabbing all ten wickets in one innings of a First-Class match during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.

India Make 3 Changes for Must-Win Manchester Test Against England

India shook up their playing eleven a lot for the Manchester Test. Kamboj stepped in for Deep, Shardul Thakur filled in for Nitish Kumar Reddy who is out for the whole series, and Sai Sudharsan from Tamil Nadu took over from Karun Nair.
England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first under the dark clouds, bringing in Liam Dawson instead of Shoaib Bashir. India trails 1-2, so this Test is huge for them to even things up. England plans to grab the win, lock in the series, and go into the last game without pressure.
