Shubman Gill, India’s T20I vice-captain, is allegedly scheduled to undergo a fitness test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. According to a Cricbuzz report, the 25-year-old is believed to have landed in the city on Friday, August 29, in order to undergo the evaluation.
Every player selected to the continental contest that will start in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 7 has to take the test. The right hand-hit man was supposed to leave Bengaluru to the United Arab Emirates based on the report.

Gill was picked to play and captain the North Zone in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal match-up with East Zone. But due to the fact that he was sick and he was healing in Chandigarh, he did not end up playing the game.
The Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper will be the second on the list to back Suryakumar Yadav at the 2025 Asia Cup. He replaces Axar Patel who had been in the role since the campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup was won.
Rohit Sharma to undergo fitness tests at CoE in September

Rohit Sharma, the ODI skipper, is also expected to visit the Centre of Excellence for fitness testing. According to reports, on September 13, the 38-year-old would undergo the tests at the facility.
“Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November. With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility,” a BCCI source told The Times of India.

The 2025 Champions Trophy final was the right-handed opener’s final game for India. In May 2025, he announced his retirement from Test cricket. After leading India to victory in the T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies in June 2024, he declared his retirement from T20I.
