Hardik Pandya of India shake hands with Mohammad Nawaz of Pakistan after dthe DP World Asia Cup T20 match

The Asia Cup 2025 match against India and Pakistan has not yet sold out of its tickets. On Sunday, September 14, the bitter rivals will square off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

This is somewhat of a surprise given the size of the competition. However, the ‘package system’ that the organizers implemented is the explanation for the low demand for tickets for the ordinarily highly sought-after event. This year, supporters must purchase the entire bundle of seven matches, unlike prior tournaments where they could buy tickets only for the India-Pakistan match. Numerous members of the cricket community are said to have been dismayed by this.

The purpose behind creating the ‘package concept’ was to promote other matches besides the India-Pakistan encounter. But it appears that the high price has backfired. Disappointment has been voiced by fans from both nations as well as other countries.

Additionally, online users have called for the distribution of single-match tickets closer to the game. A lot of people are also disappointed that the bundle does not include the Super Fours and the final, saying that if the elimination matches had been included, it would have made sense to buy the package.

India-Pakistan Clash Confirmed in Asia Cup 2025 Amid Tensions

Meanwhile, there has been significant friction between the two countries since the terror incidents in Pahalgam earlier this year. A sizable contingent of Indian cricket supporters believed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should withdraw from the Asia Cup 2025.

The match however was confirmed after the Indian government indicated clearly that it would not undertake bilateral tournaments with Pakistan but would not bar multi-nation events including Pakistan.

At present, the countries in Group B include Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Hong Kong whereas those in Group A are India, Pakistan, Oman, and the host United Arab Emirates. The competition will be held in the Zayed Cricket Stadium of Abu Dhabi and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
