On Friday, September 12, the England national cricket team was thoroughly beaten by the South Africa in the second Twenty20 International in Old Trafford, Manchester. When the Englishmen smashed 304/2 out of 20 overs, Harry Brook became the first captain to reach the milestone of 300 runs in the Twenty20 International cricket.
In an attempt to tie the three-game series, Aiden Markram urged the home team to bat, but they lost the toss. By putting up a 126-run partnership in just 7.5 overs, Jos Buttler and Phil Salt completely destroyed South Africa’s bowlers. Buttler was out for 83 from 30 deliveries, which included seven maximums and eight fours.

Harry Brook and company also surpassed the record for the highest runs scored by a team in ten overs of a T20 international, scoring 166.

England join elite list with 300-plus T20I total against South Africa

England, however, is the second full-member country to have a higher score than 300 runs (after Zimbabwe) in a T20I. In October 2024, Zimbabwe is defeated by Gambia by 290 runs in a match in Nairobi by 344/4.
In the meantime, South Africa won the previous ODI series by a score of 2-1 and won the rain-soaked first Twenty20 International in Cardiff by 14 runs. On Sunday, September 14, the third and final Twenty20 International will take place.
