BCCI issues official update on Shreyas Iyer injury status

Shreyas Iyer sustained an abdominal injury, which led to the laceration of the spleen and internal bleeding, on Saturday, October 25, during the third ODI against Australia.

This injury was soon diagnosed and the hemorrhage was halted. His state is fine, and he is still placed under surveillance. On Tuesday, 28 th – the repeat scan showed that Shreyas Iyer was making huge progress and he is headed towards a recovery. His progress will still be monitored through the BCCI Medical Team whose services will be joined by the professionals in Sydney and India.

What exactly happened to Shreyas Iyer?

The important Indian player Iyer was playing back point area in the third and last ODI of the series against Australia on October 25 in the Sydney Cricket Ground. On Harshit Rana delivery in the 34th over Alex Carey, the Australian, made a crazy slog, but this gave an opportunity to Iyer who ran some long distance even though he ran behind, and made a fantastic catch.

but when the 30-year-old had returned the fish, he landed on his stomach, with a fall that struck a blow against the part of the rib cage. Upon quitting the SCG and his hospitalization, scans showed that the cricketer had suffered a lot of internal bleeding. Iyer was immediately transferred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the treatment operations commenced in St. Vincent’s private hospital in Sydney.

Even the reports suggest that Iyer survived a fatal accident, since a more serious injury would have resulted in death. But BCCI physio Kamlesh Jain and his support staff took no time in ensuring that Iyer one of the most prized batters in the team at the present time was given the finest and speediest possible treatment. It is probable that he will get discharged by the end of this week.
