Smriti Mandhana, the Indian opener in the Women ODI, has regained the first place among the Women ODI Batting Ranking after getting a beautiful half-century against the Australian in the first of the three-ODI series that was played in New Chandigarh on Sunday.
The fashionable left-handed opener, who scored 58 out of 63 balls with six fours and two sixes, has achieved the spot she initially occupied in January 2019 and last occupied in July this year. This is the fourth time she is on the top.

Australia’s dominant win by eight wickets also boosted several of their players in the latest ICC rankings. Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 77 off 74 balls pushed her up three spots to fifth. Annabel Sutherland climbed four places to joint 25th after her 54*, where she shares the rank with opener Phoebe Litchfield, who jumped 13 spots thanks to her Player of the Match knock of 88 off 80 balls.
On the Indian side, Smriti Mandhana wasn’t the only one to benefit from the update. Richa Ghosh rose from 39th to 36th after her quick 25. Young opener Pratika Rawal moved up four places to 42nd following her 64, while Harleen Deol advanced five spots to 43rd after scoring 54 off 57 balls.

In the bowling charts, Australia’s Kim Garth and Alana King achieved career-best rankings of fourth and fifth, respectively. Sutherland also rose to 21st after chipping in with a wicket. For India, Sneha Rana gained five slots, breaking into the top 20 at 16th position.
