All-rounder Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan delivered a gorgeous knock in a qualification-needed Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi. Nabi entered the game at the death, and with a whirlwind 60 on only 22 balls put his team in the competitive position of 169/8.
The big hitting started in the 19th over against Dushmantha Chameera, where Nabi managed 17 runs despite the bowler landing some good yorkers. He found the gaps, used clever deflections, and kept the scoreboard racing.

The real fireworks came in the final over against young Dunith Wellalage. Mohammad Nabi smashed five consecutive sixes, bringing up his fifty in only 20 balls. The dream of six sixes in an over ended when he was run out on the last delivery, but by then he had completely shifted the momentum. His explosive cameo at a strike rate of 272.72 gave Afghanistan a total to fight with and left the crowd in awe.

Afghanistan faced immediate pressure after winning the toss and deciding to bat. Nuwan Thushara of Sri Lanka dominated the top order with 4 for 18. Sediqullah Atal, Karim Janat, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were all involved in the power struggle.
Rashid Khan and Ibrahim Zadran attempted to steady the innings, but they also faltered later. Wanindu Hasaranga played brilliantly in his four overs for just eighteen runs, while Dasun Shanaka contributed a wicket. After this, Nabi and Rashid worked together to build his innings. Nabi’s late onslaught was the highlight of the match, but the Afghan captain’s 24 gave the squad some breathing room.
