India ended their last group stage of the Asia Cup 2025 with a 21-run victory over Oman at Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19. The win guaranteed them to secure the first place in Group A having three wins and six points.
The Men in Blue batched first and scored 188/8. Abhishek Sharma was on top of the list with a 38-run score in only 15 balls at 253.33. Sanju Samson (56) and Axar Patel (26) and Tilak Varma (29) have played a valuable supporting role in ensuring that India established a competitive total.
It was not an easy victory of Suryakumar Yadav and his men as Oman also fought hard and made the game competitive up to the last moment. The visitors scored 167/4, Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza scored 50 each, but not much more.
Through this win, India had not lost the Asia Cup 2025. We shall have a look at five records and milestones made by the Men in Blue during their conflict against Oman.
5. Second-most T20I matches by a country

India hosted their 250 th T20I match at the Asia Cup 2025 match with Oman, the second most played team as per T20Is, Pakistan who have played 275 matches. The Men in Blue have a good track record having 167 wins out of 250 matches with win rate of 66.8%.
Their win by 21 runs over Oman was a landmark occasion as it was the 250 th T20I in their history. India has up to now lost 71 matches and six drawn matches in this format.
4. Highest partnership conceded by India against an Associate team in T20I

Oman’s batters Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza shone against India, putting together a 93-run partnership for the second wicket in just 55 balls. Hammad scored 47 off 28 balls, while Aamir contributed 45 off 27.
This stand is now the highest partnership India has ever conceded to an Associate nation in T20Is, highlighting Oman’s fightback despite India winning the match.
3. First 50-plus opening partnership by Oman against a full member team

For the first time, Oman achieved a 50-plus opening stand against a full member nation. Openers Aamir Kaleem and skipper Jatindr Singh added 56 runs for the first wicket in 52 balls.
Previously, Oman had solid opening stands of 72 against Afghanistan and 69 against Ireland in the 2016 T20 World Cup, but neither Afghanistan nor Ireland were full members at the time.
2. Oman’s second-highest total against a full member team

Oman scored 167/4 against India, marking their second-highest total against a full member team. Their highest total in such matches was 173/9 against Ireland in 2019.
This is also the second-highest score by an Associate nation against India in T20Is. Nepal holds the record, scoring 179/9 against India in the 2023 Asian Games.
1. Third-fastest to 100 T20I wickets (full member teams)

Arshdeep Singh took the 100th T20I wicket of his first Asian Cup 2025 match by dismissing Oman’s Vinayak Shukla. He was the third-swiftest bowler to hit 100 wickets in 64 matches after Rashid Khan (53) and Wanindu Hasaranga (63).
Arshdeep is also the fastest pacer and the first Indian to reach this milestone in T20Is. Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya are next among Indians with 96 wickets each.
