Usain Bolt plays cricket with former Indian cricketer Nilesh Kulkarni

On Friday, September 26, a former Indian cricket star, Nilesh Kulkarni was spotted having fun with Usain Bolt, a Jamaican retired sprinter in Mumbai. Bolt is the world record holder in the 100-, 200-, and 4-meter relay, and the eight-time Olympics gold medalist.

Usain Bolt spent some time with Kulkarni, the founder and director of the Institute of International Institute of Sports & Management. At an occasion, the former left-arm spinner bowled him few deliveries and the tall sprinter was caught with a bat.

Bolt was caught swinging the bat wildly and violently. He was able to establish a connection between the deliveries and the enthusiastic bystanders. After then, Bolt and Kulkarni were photographed standing next to each other.

Bolt acknowledged that as a child, he was a fervent cricket fan. He also credited his generation’s cricket players with qualities like motivation, hard work, and others.

“For me, I was a huge cricket fan growing up. So, I watched cricket growing up. Watching all the talent of the cricketers growing up and the way they worked and the way they pushed themselves and the way they carried themselves was something that inspired me at a young age to work hard and to be the best that I could be,” stated the Jamaican in a “Fireside chat” at the Jamnabai Narsee campus here on Friday, as quoted by Deccan Herald.

Kulkarni played ten ODs and three Tests on behalf of India. His international career had a short experience but he was considered an experienced player in Mumbai. The left arm spinner had 357 First-Class wickets and 135 List A wickets, a total of 492 wickets in his career. The pugnacious 6’4″ athlete wrote history when he snatched a wicket on his debut ball in Test cricket.
